Living history 1804

This weekend I was in the Museum of Kiekeberg where we had a living history- event set in 1804. It was great fun :) My dear husband and I did portray showmen, we had a paper-theater with us and told some dances to the peasants.
By the way, this is the only museum in Germany with own living-history-interpreters! (We were only there as guests)
I made this little Video:

Cute videos! I love seeing history 'in motion'

On a completely different note, I'm starting to plan my 18th C riding habit, and have been curious if people ever had habits with different coloured skirts and jackets, and while googling I stumbled upon your pretty habit on flicker so I thought I'd just pop by your LJ and ask if you chose different colours because of personal preferences or if you've seen it in any primary sources?

It looks so striking with the black and red combo!

Thank you for your compliment :)
It was just a pragmatic decicion, I had some scraps left from a circular coat for my husband and they were enough for a jacket but not for a petticoat ;)
But I know a painting where a woman wears a pink petticoat and a green just-au-corps-like huntingjacket:

That painting is great! I'm really liking different coloured petticoats, it makes the jacket stand out much more, and I love how she's matching the jacket with her shoes instead. Everything is colour-coordinated, yet stand out on their own.

People have always complained that I never sew any everyday clothes so my riding jacket will be made to be worn both with and without stays so I can use it as a winter coat. Therefore I'm splurging out on really expensive wool and was hoping to use a cheaper one for the petticoat, so I might follow your example and go for a different colour.

Thanks so much for your input!
